OYO of Norway Hiking Axe

 

Nice quality, compact Axe from Noway's OYO Axe Company. The lightweight Axe is easy to carry and great for small jobs around the Camp and on the Trail, also good for detail craft work.

Copied from a Viking Axe c1000 found near OYO's factory in Geilo, Norway

 

Nice shape 13in haft with a  3/4 LB head, the profile is narrrow for cuts, but will split a bit too. Quality HC Steel, the Axe is made in Europe.

A copy of a Viking ax found just outside our Geilo factory. It is believed that the original ax is from just before the year 1000 and that it was used as a versatile ax in the household. It has good features and a functional shape that works just as well today as it did 1000 years ago. Admittedly, the steel quality and the edge have been significantly improved, but the ax's original properties have been preserved.

The Viking ax is a beautiful and excellent walking ax that takes up little space in the bag and is suitable for many purposes. Perfect as a gift. Comes in delicious felt liner with leather details.
