Helle Nordlys Flat Grind 12C27 Steel

A new and fantastic knife by Helle of Norway! It looks similar to the Helle Nord but has a finer blade which will inhance its slicing capibilty so great for hunting, and has a smaller overall profile.

The very comfortable handle sports brass pins and the slabs are Curly Birch. As always with helle it comes with a practical and simple leather sheath. 

Nordlys means Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) in Norwegian. Lys means both light and fair. Nordlys preserves all the innovative features of its larger sibling, but packs it in a substantially smaller package. At 12.4 cm, the Nordlys handle is 1.3 cm shorter than on the Nord, but you still have the space for a forward grip for finer cuts and a pommel grip when chopping.

The blade is also the same shape as its larger sibling, featuring a slight drop-point and a classic scandi grind. It is notably shorter though – at 12.2 centimeters it is roughly the same length as most Norwegian all-round outdoor knives. The blade is made out of the very tough and stainless 12C27 Alleima steel. The overall weight of the Nordlys therefore clocks in at only 210 grams, which means that you are left with a very balanced and lightweight knife for being a full tang knife.
